Our Story Cycling has long been a part of Illinois State University, but the school's presence at collegiate races has varied throughout it's history. In the Spring of 2008, a small group of students, together with a local cyclist, decided to revive the club so that ISU students would again have a place to learn the sport, practice their skills, and compete if they chose. By the time the 2009 Spring Collegiate Road Racing season arrived, those cyclists had brought others into the sport, had fostered an interest in collegiate racing, and had developed a group of racers talented enough to claim multiple top finishes. This growth has exceeded everyone's expectations. But we're just starting. Illinois State Cycling is committed to represent our school at Cyclocross Races this Fall, and plans an even stronger assault on Conference Road Races next Spring. Spring 2009 saw our riders win their Team Time Trial at Purdue and gain podium finishes at Notre Dame and Wisconsin. But as our riders have continued to race at non-collegiate events this Summer, they've achieved even greater results. You can be a part of that. This school year, we expect to bring more riders to the sport, and more wins to the school. Our riders represent cycling to the campus and community, leading local rides, bicycle repair classes, and working at area bike shops. Our riders talk to classmates, community members, and alumni--they answer questions, and they help others begin and enjoy a healthy, lifelong activity. Our riders also train hard, and they train all year round. Though many are new to the sport, their commitment to training, and their impressive potential, can be seen in their results. When it's time to race, they ride strong, represent the school well, and compete against the strongest Universities and Colleges throughout Michigan, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Missouri, and Kentucky. Illinois State Cycling is the official USA Cycling Collegiate Club for Illinois State University, but it depends on sponsor support to help fund annual costs of rider clothing and transportation. Our Sponsorships All Illinois State Cycling sponsors will receive the following benefits: • Quarterly updates on race results, race plans, and community activities • Quarterly team photos and roster • Recognition on www.illinoisstatecycling.org • Additional club information or ride coordination as agreed Sponsors will also receive one or more logo placements on the Illinois State Cycling jersey and shorts for the 2010-2011 Season.
